What does a Wedding Day Coordinator do?
If you are currently wedding planning you may have seen the words Wedding Day Coordinator and wondered what they do? And most importantly do I need one?
Well, hopefully, we will make that a little clearer here.
What does a Wedding Day Coordinator do?
A wedding day coordinator ensures the whole day runs smoothly from start to finish. they can also be involved in the planning stage. Particularly with
- timelines
- vendor organisation
- schedules
- logistics
They also help with on-the-day issues and last-minute problems…hopefully without you ever knowing!
What doesn’t a coordinator do?
Generally, they don’t
- help with the aesthetic or theme choices
- book vendors
- get involved in RSVPs
- spend hours helping you plan every last thing
Do I need to hire a Coordinator?
No, in short, you don’t need a wedding co-ordinator.
However, if you have put a lot of effort into the day and want it to go without a hitch then a wedding co-ordinator may be a good idea. Especially if you are planning a marquee or outside wedding such as those at Bridge Meadows.
What’s the difference between a Coordinator and a Wedding Planner?
Generally, a Wedding Planner helps you with every step of planning whilst a Coordinator is more about the execution. Everything actually coming together.
Whilst a Coordinator won’t take on decisions like your planner you don’t have to wait until you’ve booked all your vendors before booking a Coordinator as they will have a wealth of experience and advice to share with you.
A planner may be more suited to you and your wedding if you want to hand over the reins to someone else but if you are planning a DIY or marquee wedding then that’s probably not you!
For example, a wedding planner will create your table centres whilst a coordinator will assemble them to your vision.
You may be like Alex, a creative person with one too many ideas. Alex fitted three different themed events into her wedding weekend, the weekend which sparked the idea of renting out Bridge Meadows to other creative brides who wanted something a little different. A Wedding Day Coordinator would have been able to assist and/or lead a helpful team to complete the changeovers whilst a Wedding Planner would have taken over the decoration decisions long ago.

Why hire a Wedding Day Coordinator?
You may want to hire a Wedding Day Coordinator if you…
- have a lot planned that you want to squeeze into the day
- want to relax
- are worried about any potential bumps in the road
- have multiple vendors that all need to do the right thing at the right time
- have lots of decorations to go up or come down
Having a Wedding Day Coordinator means you can have the smoothest running day possible.
After all that hard work, time, planning and cost it’s the chance to know it’s not all on your shoulders. Someone who understands is there to back you up and help you out. Leaving you to enjoy one of the happiest days of your life.
