Tate and Lyle Chocolate Filo Rolls

Sharing is caring!

Sweet treats using filo pastry-recipe ideas

Looking for a sweet treat for the weekend or as a loving gift? Chocolate filo rolls just hit that spot for the perfect balance of sweet, salty and crunchy!

We created these Chocolate spread rolls from the Tate and Lyle website. Check out the original recipe here

We personally thought they looked more attractive rolled the opposite way so they were chunkier and shorter. We also used Lindt chocolate spread which was delicious. The filo forms the perfect crunch especially when paired with the soft insides.

Chocolate filo rolls

These rolls lasted in an air tight box for about a week and were a delicious chocolate hit!

What do you need to create chocolate filo rolls?

  • Filo Pastry
  • Butter, melted, to brush on the sheets
  • Chocolate spread-we used Lindt!
  • Icing sugar to dust

How to make chocolate filo rolls!

  1. Pre-heat your oven to 200c and prep a baking tray. We like to use reusable silicone sheets for sweet treats but baking paper works too!
  2. Melt your butter in a microwave or in a pan and grab a brush-silicone again works well with greasy butter!
  3. Cut each sheet of filo into four. This should be a rectangle.
  4. Chocolate time! We spread the chocolate spread on the short side, tucked in the ends with a little butter and rolled up. To keep the chocolate safe inside leave enough spare filo at the end to wrap around the whole roll when spreading the chocolate spread with the back of the spoon.
  5. Repeat with all the filo
  6. Arrange on the tray and brush the tops with a little butter
  7. Bake for 10mins
  8. Remove from oven and cool on a wire rack
  9. Dust with icing sugar to finish
  10. Enjoy

A cute box or tin makes this the perfect gift for a loved one this Valentine’s day!
