Recreating a Disney Park Classic

To celebrate the treats and sweets available at Disney Parks we recreated these Rice Krispie Treats covered in chocolate.

In the Disney parks in America Rice Krispie treats are a common sight either covered in chocolate or with a fondant transfer.

Unlike traditional English Rice Krispie Cakes these are made with marshmallows instead of chocolate leading to a more chewy eating experience.

What you need to create Rice Krispie Treats

  • Rice Krispies
  • Marshmellows
  • Butter
  • Chocolate
  • Decorations
  • Cutter and cooking oil to spray on it

We created ours using a classic recipe from the Rice Krispies website . We even sourced American marshmallows in ASDA!

Personally, we found the recipe to create quite a sticky mix. Make sure to keep to the right quantity of marshmallows.

We spread ours in a silicone dish to set then turned it out (with some difficulty) and used a metal cutter to cut out the shapes. Our mixture was a little too deep which means the cutter didn’t go all the way to the bottom-rookie mistake! To help the cutter we sprayed it with cooking oil, we would recommend doing this!

Decoration time

When we had cut out our shapes it was time to decorate!

To create the ears we melted milk chocolate and spread it on. We used Kernow Chocolate Milk Buttons melted in the microwave and spread on with the back of a spoon.

For the red and pink we melted Kernow Chocolate White Buttons and then added pink or red Wilton gel colouring spreading this on the bottom round shape for Minnie and over just the bottom half for Mickey’s trousers.

Finally a couple of white buttons here and there add the dotty details!

How would you decorate yours?
