Dog photography ideas

Recently we created some giant daisy photographic props. Perfect for welcoming in spring.

I wanted to create an Alice in Wonderland themed scene to take some photos of Daisy in so we had the idea of creating giant daisy flowers.

We used the plastic strapping that Carol has currently been using to weave with and looped it into petal shapes.

What you will need to create giant daisy photographic props

If you feel like creating oversized spring-themed shots here is what you will need.

  • Thick cardboard
  • Thin cardboard-yellow works well
  • Plastic for petals
  • A stem-we used novelty pencils
  • Stapler
  • Small bulldog clips

Where to get the plastic strapping

This strapping is the plastic which wraps around deliveries you may receive as well daily newspaper bundles so ask at your corner shop if you can take the next day’s strapping off their hands!

You really have to push them down to make them retain their shape! But once you do these straps are pretty resilient to keeping their new form.

How to create giant daisy photographic props

Start off with let’s turn the straps into petals. To turn the straps into daisies we bent each one in half so it formed a petal shaped loop.

We then cut out circles from strong cardboard and stapled the ends to the centre. This creates the basic daisy flower shape.

We worked our way all around the centre, stapling the loops to the centre piece leaving a small gap at the bottom.

This gap at the bottom is for the stems. We attached giant glittery pencils, stapling through their top loop and taping them in to form the stems. Any strong stick could work here. The bigger the stem the more you can oversize the petals and flowers!

Another circle was then bull dog clipped on top to hide the staple. We used yellow card to make it look more daisy like!
