5 Best ways to find wedding vendors

How to find wedding suppliers? Sometimes the world of weddings can be a little confusing. But with these top 5 ways you’ll be sifting out the best options for your wedding in no time!

How to find wedding suppliers

When you are looking for suppliers be sure to write a list of everything you’ll need before you start. Cover your needs in your budget and vendor search before you stretch to the fun stuff.

Look for each type of supplier one at a time and make a note about how you have contacted them. You will want to contact a few of each type of vendor or supplier to get the best deals for you.

Google and Search Engines

The first option to find suppliers has to be good old Google (other search engines available). Keep things simple and search for the exact thing you want and make sure to include your location. There are so many wedding suppliers out there but often local is best for price and availability. Don’t get your heart set on something you can’t have.

try (wedding) + vendor + location eg marquees + Lincolnshire or marquees + Lincolnshire + wedding

Pinterest and TikTok are also search engines so if you’re stuck don’t forget to check them out too!

Attend a wedding fair

Attending a wedding fair can be fun but it can also be overwhelming and sometimes not that helpful.

If you enjoy going to markets and fairs, talking to people and picking up samples then check one out. But don’t expect to attend one fair and get all your vendors. If you are collecting cards and meeting suppliers this way you may need to attend several.

Specialised Websites or Apps

Specialised websites like Bride Book and Guides for Brides or websites with apps like Hitched are set up for exactly this so use them! But don’t forget that a lot of times the suppliers recommended first have paid to be there rather than them being the best option for you. Doesn’t mean they aren’t though!

Again remember to focus on locality. Also some websites, like Bark, suppliers have to pay to answer you so be aware of this. Perhaps you will get less quotes from sites like this but if you do at least have the courtesy to thank vendors.

Hitched is great as you can have it as an app on your phone linking your vendors to your budget plan and wedding website.

Ask friends and family for recommendations

In the UK we are too shy to talk about money and pricing. But we shouldn’t be and we certainly shouldn’t let it stop us from getting what we want.

If you’ve been to the wedding of a friend or family member who lives locally and you particularly love a vendor then ask for recommendations.

Weddings can be a strange thing though. Competitive with a sense of one-up-manship. These ‘best days of your lives’ can lead to competition. So not everyone will be happy to share for fear of ‘copycats’, if people don’t want to share then understand that’s their prerogative. And certainly don’t tell people what you didn’t like about their special days!

Ask your existing suppliers for other connections

Asking your existing suppliers for other connections is often the best way to get some vendor recommendations.

If you have your venue sorted they will often have a list of suppliers they enjoy working with which is great as these will already know your venue and will probably be local. We have our own list of recommended suppliers for example.

But feel free to ask any supplier involved in the wedding industry as you never know who will know the perfect person for you!
