    Cake inspired by film

    Despicable Roses

This cake was baked in a heart shaped tin and then covered in a thin layer of pale pink butter cream.

Next using a star shaped nozzle we piped cream coloured roses at the top. Then adding a little bit of pink butter cream and piped roses continuing down. We kept adding pink buttercream to the bag until all the roses were pink. This way it created a gradient effect as the two colours mixed together. The trick is not to add too much buttercream to your bag at once and do it in stages so you are happy with the stages of colour change.

The little unicorn figure was based on the “its so fluffy” unicorn from the film series Despicable Me. To create this we used white and pink fondant. We used pre-mixed pink as it needed to be neon bright. We then added a yellow horn and used a food pen for the black details. When creating a figure based off something else I find it best to research the object from various angles and keep those pictures in front of you as you model.
