Dog friendly ideas for summer
Ideas for summer fun with dogs can be difficult. Especially if the weather is unpredictable as it has been this year

When it’s sunny
Why not try a garden picnic? Unless your dogs are super uninterested in food I would stick to table and seats but this is a great way to encourage everyone to eat slower and spend time together outside. Picky bits and summer fruits are ideal for this!
Have some water fun. We have a paddling pool specifically for the dogs. It was actually for Amber though and the other three do basically treat it as a drinking pool but at least its something. This year we have also added a daisy sprinkler for the super hot days (all two of them).
When it rains
Our dogs love nothing more than when we have a movie afternoon. Inside on the sofa is where our cuddly canines long to be. So they love it when we spend the afternoon watching a movie (with snacks) with them.
Ideas for summer fun with the dogs-out and about
Pack a bag and remember the water and head out for a fun day.
These are some of our dogs favourite places to visit:
Somewhere new
a big stretch of beach-Lincolnshire and Yorkshire have our favourite beaches
a beach side town with lots of delicious snacks to snaffle. Our dogs enjoy a trip in a land train!
a wood with lots of interesting smells
a grass land like a moor, large park or heath particularly if it has small windy paths. Beverleys Westwood was a recent favourite
local nature reserve. Sometimes these have dog friendly sections or routes. Sometimes they don’t. We find RSPB reserves tend to have more options
English Heritage may have dog friendly options near you too.

Bolingbroke Castle is dog friendly. Owned by English Heritage, it had lots to explore.
