How to make necklaces out of mini glass bottles

Glass bottles are a very cute addition to a craft stash but it can be hard to know what to do with them!

Recently I’ve been making these super cute bottle necklaces. I used lots of different things to decorate mine but there are just a few essentials you need to make your own!

Selection of bottle necklaces

What do you need to make glass bottle necklaces?

  • Mini glass bottles-I got mine from The Works, however you can get various size bottles with beads and sequins in, from craft shops, that you can then empty and reuse!
  • Chains-I used different chains depending on my designs including gold, silver and ribbons
  • Mini screw eyes-these can be found in any DIY store or online.
  • Jewellery pliers-including flat nose, round nose, and cutters
  • Jump rings-to attach the chains, charms etc
  • Decorations-you can use anything for this! Printed stickers for the outside, handwritten tags, paper notes, charms, sequins, beads, mini pom poms, ribbons…the possibilities are endless!

How to turn the supplies into jewellery

Close up of the bottles

All you need to do is think of an idea, decorate the outside of the bottle (such as with stickers on the glass or charms on ribbons or attached to the hook) and then fill with whatever you fancy-just remember to keep them light as they will be hanging round someones neck!

To finish simply screw in a mini screw eye in to the cork to attach the chain and press into the bottle- dab some glue on the cork first so you can be certain it won’t pop out!

You can also use a mini screw eye on the other side of the cork to suspend something inside the bottle. In the photos you can see a selection of designs I’ve created.

There you are-let your imagination run wild. What would you pop in your bottle? Let us know in the comments below!
