Craft Resolutions for 2024
New Year’s Resolution Ideas for Crafters
Setting New Year’s Craft Resolutions is a great way to hit the New Year running.
Craft Resolutions, Using up the craft stash…
This year we have set ourselves a challenge of “using up the craft stash”. This entails limiting new purchases and finishing ongoing projects-including old ongoing projects! Obviously, some purchases will be made whether it is an essential item to finish a project (I do however currently have a ton of half used glues?!) or something just irresistible.
What are the benefits of “using up”?
By doing this we hope to…
- rediscover old ‘gems’-favourite items, tools and techniques hidden by newer things.
- create more space in the craft room (especially where we have multiple half used similar items-glues for example) by using up before buying more. We currently don’t have a craft room in the new house but hope to have at least an area set up soon!
- be less wasteful by not making unnecessary purchases.
- be less wasteful with money again by limiting purchases.
- become more mindful in future purchases. Have a better idea of what we have and what is NEEDED not just wanted.
- try new techniques by using kits and books we bought previously. (as long as not too many purchases are required to do so!)
- find key techniques/tools/equipment/niches that we love and that suit us
Accountability for Craft Resolutions
Accountablilty is so important for New Year’s and Craft Resolutions. Having a way of measuring or recording your achievements is a great encouragement to go further. Without quantifying what you haven’t done or want to achieve you cant see how far you have come. Often leading to quitting by February!
To hold us accountable and record the journey I have set up templates on Instagram to record everything we make, use up, etc. I will use these to post regular updates to Instagram stories. These are available in our highlights for use and to view.
